What’s old is new again! Today, I felt compelled to paint some mushrooms since everything from the 70’s seems to be resurfacing again in 2014. I remember owls, earth tones, straight-parted-down-the-middle-hair, peace signs, and of course mushrooms! What I love most about creating this was playing with the colors + enhancing it with a touch of ink!

Acrylic painting enhanced with ink. Great for detail and gives a stylized or cartoon effect.

Just a simple pear for day 20 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge. Not too fussy, light + freeing. Almost better than eating it!
Watercolors used: ultramarine blue, alizarin crimson + cadmium yellow medium – wet-on-wet technique.

There is nothing quite like being at the beach, smelling the ocean, feeling the warm breeze, the sun and sand! I could paint a million beach scenes and not one would be the same!

I love to explore various mediums and styles. This semi abstract landscape was painted with a limited palette in acrylic.

wow – there never seem to be enough hours in the day! you’ll have to excuse me but I am taking a day off from the 30 in 30 painting challenge. rules are meant to be broken – but don’t worry I’m jumping right back in tomorrow!

View from my son in law’s office window in midtown Manhattan. It was incredible to see the sun set over the East River this summer – I can’t wait to get back!
