30 paintings in 30 days theme “ Hanging onto Summer”

8/31/18

For those of us living in northeast Ohio summer is in a word…..fleeting. Sure, I love the changing seasons, and the weather is never boring however when The month of June rolls in….I am determined to spend every possible moment enjoying the outdoors. I think I can easily speak for most Clevelanders when I say that we don’t think twice about shirking every possible responsibility in order to enjoy a slice of sunshine.

On this his particular day, the temperature rose to the 90’s and the Fairport Harbor Beach was THE place to be. The sun was strong, breeze was blowing and the water just cool enough. Just a couple of miles from my home, I spent the  afternoon watching beach goers enjoy the day.

This little gem was done in my new favorite app called Procreate! I love to work out  a painting on the computer before I execute it on paper, paint and canvas. The flat graphic color application has a silk screen feel that I love. I’m thinking a sweet little 12×12 painting is the next step. I think a series of these is in order to “Hang onto Summer”

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Where do you live and love about summer?

When you try a new medium…. Humbling😳

http://Brickceramics.com

I cannot believe how fast 2018 is speeding past. Just like most everybody, I’m super busy! I am painting a ton, teaching classes and also trying new things. For about the past 6 months I have been going to a ceramics studio in the Waterloo Arts District of Cleveland. Most of my work has consisted of hand building small objects such as ring holders, platters and such. I felt I was ready for the challenge of throwing clay on the wheel.

Hahaha! It’s so not easy and frustrating……in fact it was absolutely Humbling….
